I bought the assortment pack mainly to pin curved seams on sleeves, and the bent shape holds the fabric way better than straight pins ever did. The 12 pins come in three different sizes, which is handy when one layer is thicker than the other.

The curve on these makes such a difference when pinning along a seam, the fabric just rolls under instead of puckering. Twelve pins in the assortment is plenty for a small project and they feel sturdy, not flimsy like the straight ones I had before.

I quilt a lot and these bent pins hold fabric layers together way better than straight ones, especially on curves. The 12-piece assortment gives me a few sizes to work with, though I wish there were more of the longer ones.
